How do you play the Lines drinking game?
The Lines drinking game rules are simple: clear all cards from the deck. Sounds easy, but the rules make it tough. You start with 6 face-up cards below each other. These are the starting points of the lines. Each turn you try to guess cards higher or lower and thus extend your row. But beware: every third card must be added to the longest row. And if you guess wrong? Then all cards from that row disappear back into the deck and you have to drink!

1. Choose a starting card
Choose a card from the table. Draw a new card from the deck, place it next to it and guess whether its value is higher or lower. Then turn the card over.

2. Play the second card
Is the card correct? Then continue and choose another card. This may be the same or a different one. Guess again whether the new card is higher or lower.

3. Play the longest row
Two cards correct in a row? Then the third card must end on the longest row. Only when you play this card correctly does your turn end!

4. Start over upon a mistake
On a wrong guess, you clear the cards from the row and drink one sip for each card. The cards go back into the deck, you place a new card and go again.
Only when you have guessed 3 cards correctly in a row does your turn end and the next player is up. So it can happen that you keep clearing row after row. That makes it extra tricky and, especially as the game progresses, very difficult. But don’t give up, we have managed to finish it countless times!
Important rules
Remember that the card values range from 2 (lowest) to Ace (highest): 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, J, Q, K, A. A double card (same value) always counts as a wrong guess.
Don’t forget that you play horizontally. You lay the cards in a row, next to each other. If you make a wrong guess, you remove the entire horizontal row of cards.

A game of Lines takes on average 30 to 60 minutes, but can take several hours if you’re unlucky. That’s why it’s a perfect drinking game for with a group of friends!
What happens when a row is cleared?
If a row is cleared, those cards go back into the draw pile. Then place a new card in the place of the row. It is this player’s turn again.
Can I play Lines with more than 10 players?
Yes, in theory, but we do not recommend it. You have to wait too long for your turn. An average turn can sometimes take a few minutes.
